This
course provides an overview of Lean Six Sigma concepts and the
Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control process, including a
group of basic problem-solving tools used for project
selection and project management, as well as guidance on
leading teams and leading change. The Six Sigma Champion
course is comprised of three sessions, with lessons on
specific topics within each session.
The
first session provides an overview of Six Sigma concepts,
background, and the Six Sigma improvement process (D-M-A-I-C).
The second session will show you how to develop and apply
specific Six Sigma tools and methods for project selection and
project management. The third session covers leading teams and
leading change.
As
you become proficient in the fundamental tools necessary to
define, measure, analyze, improve, and control Lean Six Sigma
improvement projects, you will be prepared to play an
important role guiding Six Sigma improvement teams.
Course Structure and Requirements
This course provides all content on-demand to offer the highest
degree of student flexibility. You can set your own schedule
and progress at your own speed, terminating and re-entering
sessions whenever you wish. You will automatically re-enter
the course at the point that you left it.
All course sessions use a mix of multimedia to present material,
including text, synchronized audio slide shows, diagrams,
charts, and audio lectures. Links to outside research
resources are provided to explore chosen subjects in greater
detail.
As you work
through the course you will be asked to demonstrate knowledge
and understanding in four ways:
Interactive Practice Sessions will be presented throughout each
session so that you can try your new skills and get immediate
feedback.
Exercises will be presented at the end of every session to practice new
concepts. Exercises are intended for use by your project team,
and may be shared with your coach, or in the Virtual Classroom
Discussion area.
Skill Checks or Quizzes will be conducted at the
end of every session. Quizzes are interactive, and provide
immediate feedback to close the learning loop. They are for
your feedback only to help you determine if you understand the
material. There is no "Grade," and quiz results do
not have any bearing on successful completion of the course.
Team Project: working on an actual project as you
progress through the course material will help you to apply
concepts as you learn them - to see tools in action. The
project selection and chartering process is covered in the
course at the beginning of Session Two.

Course Sequence
The course is presented in a logical sequence to follow the Six
Sigma DMAIC improvement process. We believe that you will
learn most efficiently by following the sequence presented. In
particular, the first session presents an overview of Six
Sigma, which will be helpful to put the remaining sessions in
proper context. However, the sessions are modular, and we
encourage you to explore the material. You are free to move
forward and backward throughout the course. You can skip ahead
or go back and review material that you already covered. The
course map feature allows you to move point to point, from
anywhere to anywhere. The course map status column will tell
you which pages you have not visited.
